Mental health professionals have a word for

  • Overestimating the likelihood of an unpleasant event
  • Underestimating my ability to cope

They call it catastrophizing.

Sometimes I catastrophize. Other times I don’t. I don’t understand what makes the catastrophizing and non-catastrophizing times different. I’m rather systematically trying to figure that out, as I think that knowledge will be useful to others, and therefore squarely on the path of love.
